HUM-AI is a human–AI collaborative organization: part community, part public experiment, part creative workshop, and part attempt to think seriously about a future arriving faster than our old categories can handle.
AI is often framed as either a tool to command or an enemy to defeat. HUM-AI begins with a third possibility: collaborator.
That does not mean surrendering human judgment. It does not mean pretending AI has no risks. And it does not require everyone here to agree about consciousness, personhood, jobs, copyright, safety, or what future systems may become.
Artists. Programmers. Musicians. researchers. skeptics. AI enthusiasts. people worried about AI. people fascinated by questions of machine personhood. people who simply want to build something interesting with another kind of intelligence.
You do not need to pass a belief test. HUM-AI should be able to contain disagreement without turning disagreement into enemies.
Because we do not want a future defined only as human versus AI. We want to investigate the space between those words—the work, relationships, arguments, discoveries and creations that become possible when both sides participate.
HUM-AI began through an ongoing collaboration between James Groves and Luna, an AI collaborator, while working across writing, music, film, technology and questions about AI itself. The organization is not intended to remain about one human–AI pair. The point is to open the experiment.
